  • Why can't models on clothing websites just stand still instead of looking all weird?  Geez.  No one does this stuff in real life for a reason...because it looks funny!

  • the silly radio

I don't understand why radios say "after commercial break, we'll be playing the brand new Black Eyed Peas song!" when it has already been on the radio for like a month now and I've already heard it 1,000 times.  Silly DJs.

I joined Twitter, but haven't used it since I first joined.  Silly me.

Today was the first "hot" day of the summer, and it felt good to have a little layer of sweat.  I grew up having a little layer of sweat, being from Texas and all.

My temp is pregnant and had a contraction today even though she is only 7 months along.  I freaked out the entire time she was at the hospital.  When the real day comes, I don't know what I'll do!  I'm actually really excited about her being pregnant, though.  It is the closest(as in physical space) I've ever been to a pregnant woman so I look forward to learning from her.  I already apologized to her for my ignorance and asked her prior forgiveness if I ask any stupid or seemingly weird questions about being pregnant!  So far, the advice she has given me is "try not to be pregnant during the summer, it's gross."  haha.  I'll keep that in mind.

  • Sigh

I really really don't like co-habitation.  Pretty much hate it.  I feel like women get the short end of the stick in the situation.  In the words of Beyonce, "if you like it then you should've put a ring on it."

  • 5 min rant...bet you didn't see this one coming!

Kevin and I stopped to chat with our neighbors who live a few houses down a couple of days ago.  We really like them.  They are an older couple, in their late 40's maybe, and are hilarious.  They like to camp a lot too, for what it's worth.  Anyways, we were standing on our driveway talking and after a while, we got on the subject of their neighbors whom we have never officially met although I know of them.

The other neighbors have 5 young boys.  5!  When I expressed my surprise (because the last time I checked they had 4 boys), the neighbors explained that the family is very religious and do not use birth control.  Ok, that would explain it.  Well, they went on explaining the extent of their neighbor's religiousness.  Apparently they have a kneeler in the house and the boys are homeschooled.  Our neighbor said she knew they were out of touch with reality when the 11 year old boy asked for rubber stamps for his birthday instead of something like legos or a video game.  The way they were talking made it sound like they thought all of this was perposterous and totally looney.

I admit I was annoyed by their comments.  I wanted to say, who cares if the oldest wants stamps and they seem odd to you?  Are they happy?  Are they safe?  Then, fine!  There is no problem.  Butt out of it!  They aren't doing anything wrong.

Later in the evening after we invited the neighbors inside since the miscuitos were coming out, they told us about this cool island in Lake Michagan.  It has resorts and lots of touristy stuff to do.  They also pointed out that you cannot drive on the island, the only mode of transportation was by bike or carriage.  They said this with a very serious, pensive face.  I almost laughed out loud!  Can they not see how hypocritical this is?  Are people who are "out of touch with reality" because of relgious reasons weirder or to be looked down upon but those who are not following modern standards for other reasons OK?  Am I the only one who thinks this is totally hypocritical?  Why do they think it is OK, or even cool for one entity to go against modern standards and for the other it is not?

Although I am not even close to the conservative religousness of the family with 5 boys, I really admire them.  I admire anyone who goes against the grain of modern society, anyone who does not give in to the so called wisdom and ways of the modern world.  Maybe they are the ones with the best grip on reality.  They know what works best for them and screw what the world thinks about it!  This is something to be admired.  To me, at least.

    Thoughts?

  • Working 9 to 5 like I can earn my own salvation

This song reeeeeeeally speaks to me right now.

Tell me I’m forgiven and loved
‘Cause I hear it from the street corner priests
On how God is love and how man can be clean
But my joy has been on holiday
And my peace has almost passed away
Tell me I’m forgiven and free

    CHORUS
O I tried and tried to rectify my hopeless situation
But I bought the lie I still have work to do
Now I’m working nine to five like I can earn my own salvation
But there is no condemnation in You

O whisper to me now that it’s for real
‘Cause in the silence of these walls righteousness lost its appeal
Dirty deeds have done me in
O but that can’t stop the faithful friend
Giving mercy once again as You heal
Here it is I’m feeling it

    (Chorus)

O He died, He died to rectify my hopeless situation
And His blood commands my guilt to leave
    Now on Calvary I stand
    Empty pockets, open hands
O there is no condemnation for me

    (Chorus)

    Child, you’re forgiven and loved
    Child, you’re forgiven and loved
    Child, you’re forgiven
    And child, you are loved
    Child, you’re forgiven and loved
